Overnight Kayaking Trips
Kayak along towering rocky cliffs. Set up camp amidst rich green foliage, hidden creeks and waterfalls. Scout smooth pebble beaches. The Lake Superior shoreline will ignite the explorer in you as you embark on this Western UP kayak trip!
Kayak remote Lake Superior shorelines! This memorable & exciting trip (our favorite!) will take you to places seldom seen! (Bring your cameras & tripod for this one)! We’ll launch from Saxon Harbor, visit the mouth of the Montreal River & Superior Falls, & paddle the secluded shoreline between Little Girl’s Point & the Porcupine Mountains.
We’ll often customize the trip to fit what works best for you, or if you’re on your own, we’ll try to find you a group. Even if your group is only 2, we’ll often set something up to fit your schedule & goals. If other like-minded people later desire the same trip, & same time, we’ll often add them. We find various people coming together on our trips creates a relational environment that enriches the experience!
Waterfalls on numerous creeks, the Black River, Maple Creek, the Presque Isle River & Carp River can be seen & photographed after short hikes. We’ll enjoy solitude & unmatched beauty as we setup camp along the secluded shoreline. Shorter sections of this pristine paddle may be done as day trips.
Typically Tandem Kayaks are used as they tend to be more stable and a bit faster. Solo kayaks are an option, however, you’ll need to discuss this with your guide ahead of time.

For trips Shoreline and Waterfalls trips we meet at and launch from Saxon Harbor.
There are changing rooms, bathrooms, and free overnight parking there.

PREREQUISITES
We assume everyone is a beginner. We’ll teach, train and guide you throughout the trip — but also respect the experiences you come with.
Participants should be able to:

Understand basic instructions

Manage personal care and mobility

Enter and exit the kayak. You should be able to maintain a balanced upright position while seated.

Be comfortable in water and able to float in an upright position with a life jacket.
