For the 2009 season, we’re scheduling some clinics when we have plenty of water for a good variety of excellent experience.  We’ll plan to spend, usually, a night in the pool getting used the kayak & learning the basics.  The following days we’ll test our skills on rivers with wet-suits & dry tops.

If you are interested in a different time, contact us & we can try to schedule a Whitewater camp for you.  We do these camps in the summer, but the options for good whitewater are less.

If you couldn’t make it to the fall/winter class,  you can join this next January to learn how to kayak!  We will offer the 8 week course on kayaking at the Lindquist Center pool again.  Skills will be taught and practiced to assist people with the abilities to use safe and proper kayaking techniques.  Participants will learn about boat designs, equipment, proper stroke technique, self rescue & group rescues, and principles of group safety dynamics.  Depending on interest, skills such as Eskimo rolls, squirts, cartwheels and stalls can be learned and practiced.  The overall curriculum, however, will be directed toward sea kayaking.

The course will benefit those with experience who want to improve their skills & for those who have never sat in a kayak before, but who are eager to learn.

Dr. Neal Schroeter & Clint Mabie, American Canoe Association certified instructors, will facilitate the course.

Cost: $125 per person, $75 per spouse/ child

To register, call 715.862.0383.  Enrollment is limited.
